The photograph above features Pte Harvey Hurst standing at first left. This picture could well have been taken during his service with 16 DLI, the soldier standing at third from left seems to be his friend from the portrait photos on the previous page. Also note the NCO at centre, who is wearing pre-war service dress and a different cap badge to his men. This is blurred even on the original photograph, but could well be a Beds and Herts badge.

The photo below, with Hurst as marked on the original in black felt tip, seems be of an Army PT training squad.
