This photograph, in which he is featured at right, seems to have been taken in the Middle East in 1944. From Hartlepool, John Peckett was a pre-war Territorial with the Royal Artillery. Enlisting in 1938 (Army Number 1433647), he joined 16 DLI in March 1944 after previous service with the RA with the BEF in France, Belgium and Dunkirk in 1940 and then in the Middle East and Italy.
