That’s when we were working in the Hermann Goering Fabric, the petrol refinery, a big place about three or four miles square. We were in these huts at 4C and one man was allowed to stay in the hut and not go to work. He used to get hot water on the stove ready for the workers coming back. It was my turn to stay in the camp and the factory was bombed. All my friends were killed. They took us down to help drag out the dead and wounded.' See this external site for a brief interview:
